VACCINATE RESIDENTS FOR FLU NOW

It usually takes a couple of weeks for it to travel from Denver to us.  My new recommendation is to do it ASAP.  Sorry for the change.

We have flu activity early this year. There have seen some cases in New Mexico and even in Denver.  The CDC saw 444 cases last week and tested 46,412.  This week, CDC data shows testing for over 4  million for influenza-like illness and 360,500 were positive.  Of those who tested positive, 97% had influenza A. We now see activity in New Mexico and Wyoming, bordering states.

COVID-19 Up to Date Status

COVID-19 Vaccine – Up To Date Status – docShepherd

CDC recommendations for the updated 2023-2024 COVID-19 vaccines:

  • Everyone aged 6 months and older should receive the 2023-2024 updated COVID-19 vaccine

Impact to the NHSN surveillance up to date definition:

  • Individuals are considered up to date (beginning the reporting week 9/25/23 – 10/1/23) if they have received a 2023-2024 updated COVID-19 vaccine, or if they received a bivalent COVID-19 vaccine within the last 2 months.
  • Under the new recommendations, most HCP will not be up to date with COVID-19 vaccines as of September 25, 2023. This is normal and expected.
  • Facilities should report zero (0) up to date until individuals receive the 2023-2024 updated COVID-19 vaccine.
  • HCP will become up to date as they receive the 2023-2024 updated COVID-19 vaccine this fall/winter.
