- Use of PCR testing for Urinary Tract Infection testing has dramatically increased.
- It is not approved for this use by CMS.
- The cost of using PCR testing of urine is approximately $500 per claim (per test)
- The cost of the gold standard test, Urine Culture, is much less: $30-$150 dollars.
